Immigration (DNA) Testing Procedures for Visa and Passport Applicants :

All DNA testing services related to immigration procedures are closely coordinated with the Department of State and Consular Section of the US Embassies worldwide.

Lab staff coordinates the handling of international shipments, including providing the necessary customs clearance forms and forwarding of the test kit to the US Embassy.

When the Embassy receives the testing kit the test participants will be contacted by letter or telephone and schedule an appointment date for the DNA test.

A physician selected by the Embassy or the family will collect a sample from the test participant(s), usually in the presence of a consular official. Notarial services are provided by the US embassy.

All samples, collected in the U.S.  and abroad, are then shipped to an American Association of Blood Banks (AABB)-accredited DNA parentage testing laboratories

Tax Exemptions: IRS Publication 596

In order to qualify for tax exemptions, your child(ren) must meet the relationship, age,
and residency tests set forth be the IRS. To be your qualifying child, a child must be your:  son, daughter, stepchild, adopted child, eligible foster child, or a descendant of any of them (for example, your grandchild), or brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them (for example, your niece or nephew). DNA/paternity testing is an accepted method by the IRS to document the relationship that is claimed.

Genetic (DNA) Testing Procedures for Visa and Passport Applicants

Temporary / Non- Immigrant Visas:

Tourist, Business, Student, Temporary Work permits and Employment-Based Visas ( Priority or Skilled Workers) or Investor Visas. To qualify for immigration in the employment-based category, a specific offer of employment from a U.S. based employer is required.

Immigrant Visas:
